Library celebrates end of Summer Reading with Comics Convention Aug. 8

Press Release

Marshall Public Library, 113 South Garfield Avenue in Pocatello, will end the annual summer reading program in a big way, with an all-ages comic-con event on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

Traditionally, a comics convention was a gathering of like-minded individuals to discuss their passion for comics. In recent years, comics conventions have expanded their scope to encompass all aspects of popular culture and have become a celebration of a wide range of fan interests including, superheroes, television, movies, anime, manga, science fiction, fantasy, and more.

The community is invited to this free event, which will feature demonstrations by local artists Pixel Pixie, Bob Beason, and Jody Lopez, a book signing with graphic novelist Jason Brubaker, comics swap, crafts, door prizes, tabletop gaming, a retro video game lounge, local podcast group Geeks Are Wired, and a public screening of the Calvin and Hobbes Documentary “Dear Mr. Watterson.” The event kicks off at noon with a costume contest for children, teens, and adults.
